Disney Is Reportedly in Talks With Carrie Fisher's Estate for Future STAR WARS Appearances

Not long ago we learned that Lucasfilm's creative team would be meeting to figure out what to do with General Organa in the future installments of the Star Wars saga since Carrie Fisher's passing. She had already completed shooting her scenes in Star Wars: Episode VIII, but she would have had an even bigger role in Episode IX.

They could either cut her out of the story completely or they could bring her back for her key scenes with the help of CG technology just like they did with Grand Moff Tarkin. I don't know what they will end up doing, but they are keeping their options open.

According to BBC Newsnight (via Star Wars News Net), Disney is apparently currently in discussions with Fisher's estate to be able to use her likeness in future Star Wars films. They said:

“And in what might be regarded as unseemly haste, Disney is negotiating with the actor’s estate over her continued appearance in the franchise. If Disney gets the go-ahead, Carrie Fisher will join Peter Cushing…”

It does seem a little too soon to be doing this, but I understand that Lucasfilm is a business and that they have to get things prepped, ready, and in place for when they start shooting these future Star Wars films like Episode IX

Just because Disney might be in talks with Fisher's estate about this, and they might give Disney their blessing, that doesn't mean a digital version of Fisher will appear in any films. It just means the option is there to do it if they felt they needed to.

I'm sure Lucasfilm will do what they feel is best for the story and for the situation.
