Disney is Reportedly Preparing For SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY To Bomb
I know there's not a lot of excitement out there for Ron Howard's Solo: A Star Wars Story. Fans aren't too thrilled about seeing another actor take on the role of Han Solo. It's just so hard to imagine anyone other than Harrison Ford in the role because he is Han Solo! It's also hard to get excited about it right now because we haven't seen anything from it yet! It doesn't sound like we'll have to wait much longer, though.
According to an inside source, Disney is anticipating the film will be a "car crash" and a big "bomb". When talking to ScreenGeek, the source didn't really have any hopeful words about the movie:
"Disney is bracing themselves for the Han Solo movie to bomb. They were worried about it before all The Last Jedi controversy, but now they’re essentially writing Solo off. The lead actor, Alden Ehrenreich, can’t act, and they had a dialogue coach on hand for all of his scenes. On top of that, the script is unworkable. It’s going to be a car crash."
Damn! As a hardcore Star Wars fan, I hope what this source is saying isn't true. I would love nothing more than to be surprised by a great Han Solo movie! I'm such a big fan of Ron Howard and I'm excited to see Donald Glover as Lando.
Here's the thing. By bringing Howard in to reshoot the film, Lucasfilm and screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan got the film that they wanted to see get made. Kasdan wrote Empire Strikes Back and The Force Awakens, so the core of my confidence in the film lies with him.
Lucasfilm and Disney really need to release something soon so fans can see what exactly is in store for us. They also really need to make a great first impression. But even if the first trailer is impressive, there's still going to be those fans that complain. It's just expected because it's part of the culture.
Are you expecting Solo: A Star Wars Story to be a disappointment or are you hoping for the best?
