Disney Just Became the First Studio Ever to Have Five Films in One Year Make Over $1 Billion

With the milestone of Toy Story 4 crossing into the $1 billion club, Disney has set a record that they are primed to beat by the end of the year.

So far, Disney Studios has made five films just this year that have grossed $1 Billion. The other films that reached the goal were: Captain Marvel ($1.1B), Avengers: Endgame ($2.795B), The Lion King ($1.3B) and Aladdin ($1.03B). Toy Story 4 was not only an unsurprising success, it also happened to be the biggest opening weekend for any animated film in history. So while the records are being made, Disney isn’t showing any sign of slowing down.

By the end of this year, Frozen 2 and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will have also opened to huge numbers, and will also reach $1 billion each, which will bring the total number of the highest grossers to a whopping seven movies in one year!

And if the Marvel announcements at this summer’s San Diego Comic Con are any indication of what we can expect in the future, Disney is primed to just keep busting out the hits. What are you most looking forward to?
