Disney Made 33% of the Domestic Box Office Last Year, Breaking Major Records Under Their Four Studio Umbrella
We all know Disney is the most powerful studio out there, as they have bought up Pixar, Fox, and Marvel over the years, as well as having control of the Star Wars properties. They make most of the movies that fans line up to see! And their 2019 numbers prove it. In the last year alone, they made 33% of the box office gross income, and broke the US record of $3.76 billion, and $7.35 billion internationally, with a global total of $11.12 billion, all record-breaking numbers.
Just weeks ago, Disney became the first studio in history to cross the $10 billion mark at the global box office. It’s all pretty insane, and will likely never be seen again, as Disney has the monopoly on the most powerful studios, making the movies that put butts in seats.
But the standard that was set this year may not even be hit by the house of mouse again, as this year gave us the final films in the Infinity and Skywalker sagas, along with big hits like Toy Story 4 and Frozen 2. Those were major moneymakers, and we may not see a combo like that again. Then again, maybe we will.
