Disney Moves Forward with a New PLANET OF THE APES Film Project With MAZE RUNNER Director Wes Ball

We knew that the Planet of the Apes franchise was going to be a top priority for Disney when they acquired Fox and now they are actually moving forward with it.

According to THR, the studio has hired Maze Runner director Wes Ball to develop and helm the Apes film. I enjoyed the Maze Runner movies and he seems like a good choice to take on the franchise, but it’s hard to imagine him making a film that is better than what Matt Reeves has done with the previous two movies because those are great films!

There’s no information on if this new film will expand on the story of the previously made trilogy or if this will be a complete reboot and overhaul. In all honesty, I’m not even sure what I want to see from this new movie. loved the previous films that were made and thought the third one gave us a solid ending to the story. I don’t feel that story needs to continue. But, at the same time, I don’t want to see the franchise rebooted all over again because I’m just tired of reboots.

I wouldn’t mind if Disney just left this franchise alone for a while, but that obviously isn’t going to happen. I’m not really feeling any excitement regarding this news. I’ll just wait and see what this new Apes film ends up being and then we’ll see how I start to feel about it.

What do you think about Wes Ball directing a new Planet of the Apes film for Disney?
