Disney+ PERCY JACKSON Series Lands DORA and THE MUPPETS Director James Bobin

Disney+ is bringing the Percy Jackson franchise to its viewers with a new series based on the popular kids book series from author Rick Riordan. The show has nailed down a director, with James Bobin accepting the gig. Bobin previously directed Dora and the Lost City of Gold, as well as 2011's The Muppets and its 2014 follow-up Muppets Most Wanted. Those are all solid titles, so this should be a good fit.

Book author Riordan, who helped pen the script, made the announcement on his blog, saying, "Our pilot director will be James Bobin, who is both a terrific person and an incredibly talented director who checks all the boxes we were hoping for in a partner."

Inside The Magic previously reported that though it is not fully confirmed, “The new Percy Jackson television series coming to Disney+ will reportedly follow Riordan’s novels more closely than the two prior films did. From what we know so far, each season will adapt one novel — there are five novels in total which means there should be at least five seasons of the new Disney+ series.”

Percy Jackson and the Olympians has not yet set a release date, but with the novel’s writer on board, the series is sure to be more popular with fans than the movies were. Are you looking forward to this show?
