Disney Releases Image and Description of Upcoming Disney Park Attraction STAR WARS: RISE OF THE RESISTANCE

Disney just dropped some information about the new ride that was announced at D23 called Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. They also gave us another image from the ride and a press release. Here is what they had to say:

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will be one of the most ambitious, advanced and immersive experiences ever undertaken by Walt Disney Imagineering. The attraction is also one of the largest Disney has ever created. Its massive show building is a world unto itself, housing two full-size AT-AT walkers and a Star Destroyer hangar bay – complete with a TIE fighter and a garrison of Stormtroopers – plus more thrills and surprises.

When it opens, this harrowing adventure will blur the lines between fantasy and reality and will put you in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance. You will join the Resistance and depart from Batuu in a transport ship to meet General Leia Organa at a secret rendezvous point. Along the way, however, you will be captured by a First Order Star Destroyer. The action then ramps up as you seek to escape the clutches of Kylo Ren and the First Order – with the help of some heroes of the Resistance. Today, we’re excited to share this first look inside the attraction!

This is going to be more than a ride, it is going to be an experience. Podcaster Alicia Stella reported that the whole experience will take around 28 minutes. Not the ride itself but getting to the ride. Here is how Mashable described the events that will take place:

"Rise of the Resistance" doesn't open in Galaxy's Edge until December 5 in Orlando and January 17 in Anaheim, but we got one of the earliest advance looks — no cameras allowed, alas — at some of its locations.

The idea behind Galaxy's Edge is that you're transported to the rocky jungle planet of Batuu, in the Star Wars sequel trilogy era, at an outpost with both a First Order presence and a "secret" Resistance base outside town.

Entering the latter, visitors will encounter in short order the droid BB-8, a 3-D hologram of Rey (Daisy Ridley) asking them to join the Resistance and meet General Organa, and a message from Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) advising them that he's ready to accompany them off-world.

You then step into an outdoor boarding area featuring Dameron's signature black X-Wing — engines still steaming, a Poe-like helmeted figure hovering in the cockpit. Ahead is the Resistance transport, another fully-realized spacecraft, conveniently placed next to an apparent mountainside.

Slashfilm also gave some insight into what would happen once you get into the ride:

After you enter the transport and are captured by the First Order, the transport vehicle sneakily spins around so when you exit the way you came in, you walk out into the massive Star Destroyer hanger seen in that first image at the top of the page, with legions of Stormtroopers lining the huge hall.

From there, guests enter a six-person vehicle driven by an R5 droid, who ultimately releases you into an escape pod, which “will literally drop, Tower of Terror-style, to properly convey the sickening lurch of falling out of the Destroyer.”

Some Rise of the Resistance footage that debuted in a commercial shown at D23 included a scene in which Kylo Ren’s red lightsaber sliced through the roof of a pod

I honestly cannot wait to ride this. I love how Disney is trying to raise the bar as far as their parks go. Are you excited for Rise of the Resistance? Let us know what you think.
