Disney Releases Opening Date for Avengers Campus at California Adventure, Plus More Details on Marvel Themed Attractions

Disney has released an opening date for the highly anticipated addition to Disney’s California Adventure, Avengers Campus. The new Marvel-themed land will open this summer on July 18th. What we know so far is that we will see the attraction Web Slingers: Spider-Man Adventure, and kids will have an opportunity to train with the elite Wakandan warriors of the Dora Milaje of Black Panther. Attendees will also be able to save the ragtag group of misfits from The Guardians of the Galaxy and find provisions at the Pym Test Kitchen, with foods of all sizes. These attractions all join the Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!, which opened in 2017 in the place of the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.

Here is the full updated list of attractions for the Avengers Campus land:

  • Collector’s Fortress, where Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout is located

  • Worldwide Engineering Brigade (WEB), where Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure ride is located

  • Pym Test Kitchen and Tasting Lab, where you’ll find adventurous but familiar eats

  • Doctor Strange’s Sanctum, featuring the magic and mystical

  • Avengers Headquarters, home to live shows for now, and eventually a big, innovative Avengers ride

The Spider-Man attraction, Worldwide Engineering Brigade (WEB), will be the only ride for a little while, until the Avengers ride is up and going. The ride will see “Peter Parker (Tom Holland) figuring out how to let real people experience superpowers through the Worldwide Engineering Brigade (WEB), which is housed in an old Stark Automotives building retrofitted for a group of young engineers. And in this ride, you’ll be slinging webs like Spidey himself.”

Here’s a piece of concept art outlining what the attraction will look like:

Probably the most different section of the land is the mystical Doctor Strange’s Sanctum. Here’s you’ll see “a magic show by Doctor Strange himself in an area with supernatural ruins. He’ll also test the audience to see if anyone among them has powers, so it’ll have an interactive element too.” This area will be a beautiful site to see, especially at night. Check it out below:

It says this area will include a time-warp experience, though there haven’t been explicit details provided.

Next up, here are a few more details about Pym’s Test Kitchen via /film:

Though the menu does include items like fried chicken and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, they will be presented with “adventurous twists.” You might have a sandwich with tiny buns and comically oversized meat, as seen below (via WDWT). Other dishes include Impossible plant-based large and micro meatballs in pasta and a Pym-ini, available by the slice or as a long, multi-portion sandwich.

Here’s that picture:

Alcoholic beverages will also be served close by, from the cart cleverly named The Shawarma Palace on campus.

Next up is the Taskmaster’s Stunt Show and Dora Milaje Training. This will be a live stunt show featuring Black Widow villain Taskmaster, who we know is infamous for recreating the fight styles of his or her opponent. Some of his adversaries will include Black Widow, Black Panther, and Captain America.

It is also reported that fans of all ages will be able to participate the training with the Black Panther Guards. “It’s not just a pick-a-kids kind of show; it’s for anybody to be involved in.”

And below, you’ll see the characters that the park will provide “story-driven character meetings” with:

This all looks and sounds pretty epic! I can’t wait to take my kids and check it all out. My kids are obsessed with all things Marvel, and we got a taste of things to come when we got to visit the park in December. My family was able to meet Black Panther and his guards as well as Spider-Man, and those were the highlights for my kids for sure. They gave them inspiring advice, and listened to them, then showed them how to pose and got their pictures taken. It was a special memory for sure, so with everything else that’s coming to the land, we can’t wait!

Are you stoked for all the new additions to Avengers Campus?
