Disney Reportedly Offered Joaquin Phoenix the Role of Captain Hook in PETER AND WENDY
An interesting new report has surfaced regarding an upcoming Disney film project titled Peter and Wendy, which is obviously a new film based on the classic Peter Pan story.
According to The Illuminerdi, Disney has offered the role of Captain Hook to the Academy Award-nominated Joker star, Joaquin Phoenix. I’ve gotta say, Phoenix would be perfect in the role of Captain Hook! It’s not hard to imagine him playing this villainous character at all.
This version of Hook is described as, "an unhinged, dramatic, and menacing swordsman, who is out to seek revenge on Peter Pan for cutting his hand off and feeding it to a crocodile. When Hook takes Wendy’s brothers John and Michael hostage he uses them as bait to lure Peter Pan."
Before you say that Phoenix wouldn’t do a film like this, the movie is being directed by David Lowery, who has made some great films such as Ain't Them Bodies Saints, Pete’s Dragon, A Ghost Story, and The Old Man & The Gun. He’s the kind of director that I can totally see Phoenix working with. It’ll be interesting to see if Disney can actually talk him into taking on the role.
Also, Margot Robbie is said to be up for the role of Tinkerbell, which is a great choice as well. Peter and Wendy is expected to begin shooting this April.
