Disney Reveals a New Character Coming To THE PROUD FAMILY: LOUDER AND PROUDER

Disney+ is bringing back the fan-favorite animated series The Proud Family in a new revival titled The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder.

Bruce W. Smith and Ralph Farquhar, who brought us the original series are back for the revival alongside Calvin Brown Jr. When previously talking about the series, Smith and Farquhar said:

“In our minds, the show never really went away, as we still had tons of stories left to tell. It’s the perfect time to bring back this show, and we can’t wait to take fans, old and new alike, on this journey with us.”

The series will continue the story of Penny Proud, a fourteen-year-old who is trying to gain her independence and faces typical teenage experiences in junior high. With the help of her parents, Trudy and Oscar, and her grandma, Sugar Mama, Penny faces all sorts of comical events.

A new character was recently announced for the series. Her name is Maya Leibowitz-Jenkins and she will be voiced by Keke Palmer. You can get your first look at the character below, who is described as a 14-year-old activist. I’m sure that fans of the series will be happy and excited with the new character.

When talking about the revival, Gary Marsh, president and chief creative officer, Disney Channels Worldwide, said in a statement:

“The genius of the original Proud Family series was that, under the guise of a family comedy, it provided a brilliant social commentary on our life and times. With this new series, Bruce and Ralph will once again challenge everyone to think differently about the world we share.”

Palmer will be joining returning cast members Kyla Pratt (Penny), Tommy Davidson (Oscar), Paula Jai Parker (Trudy), Joe Marie Payton (Suga Mama), Karen Malina White (Dijonay), Soleil Moon Frey (Zoey), Alisa Reyes (LaCienega), and Cedric the Entertainer as Uncle Bobby.

There’s no release date for the series yet, but check out the character and let us know what you think.
