Disney Reveals a New Muppet Character... Welcome Summer Penguin to MUPPET BABIES

We found out about a year ago that Disney Junior was bringing the 1980’s cartoon Muppet Babies back. Well, in a recent tweet from Disney Junior, they revealed a new muppet for the show named Summer Penguin and she’s adorable.

Summer looks fantastic and fun. In a short video with EW, Tom Warburton (the Executive Producer) talks a bit about who Summer is. He outlines her as more of an outgoing creative type who likes art:

“She’s super creative. She loves to draw, she loves to paint, she loves to dance—all at the same time. She’s the smallest of the group, but she definitely has the biggest heart.”

We had previously heard that the show was going to use actual puppets, but now it looks like they’ve decided to go with a 3D, cartoony animation style similar to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.

Muppet Babies is set to air in March 2018.
