Disney Reveals New Info About Their Streaming Service Including Film Projects and No R-Rated Films

Deadline has some goods for us today. They have some information regarding Disney’s streaming service that we’ve been hearing about. First, we have a rough release window. Currently, the plan is to launch the service in the fall of 2019. It will start as a domestic only service before expanding overseas. Also, there will be no R-Rated films on the service. Instead, all of those will be on Hulu. Worried that you won’t be able to watch your favorite Marvel movies and shows on Netflix? Don’t worry, the article says that Marvel content is planned to stay where it currently is. Deadline also reports that Disney is planning on creating 4-5 original movies and five TV series the first year of the service. Unfortunately, no pricing has been announced yet, but I imagine it will probably be between $9.99 and $14.99.

Here’s the list of films and shows that Deadline has reported are being worked on for the service:

Don Quixote, from a Billy Ray script; Lady and the Tramp; The Paper Magician; Stargirl, to be directed by Julia Hart; and Togo, to be directed by Ericson Core.

In post-production and bound for the streaming service are the Mark Waters-directed Magic Camp, and the Mark Lawrence-directed Noelle with Anna Kendrick, Bill Hader and Shirley MacLaine.

Priority development projects include 3 Men and a Baby; Sword and the Stone; and Timmy Failure, the latter of which has Spotlight director Tom McCarthy in the creative mix.
