Disney+ Series BOOK OF ENCHANTMENT Following Disney Villains Is Dead in the Water

We’ve got a surprising report from Deadline stating that the series Book of Enchantment that was being developed for Disney+ is no longer in development. The series, based on the book Villains by Serena Valentino had been in development for over a year at the upcoming streamer, but the report says the plug was pulled over creative reasons “related to show’s tone and direction.”

While it had not gotten the official green light, the series had been in a writers room for 13 weeks, with scripts being written, budgets discussed, locations scouted, and a May 2020 start date eyeballed.

This isn’t much of an upset to me, because I didn’t really know anything about the series, or what would have happened with it, so no harm, no foul. But it’s too bad that people did put so much time into it and it didn’t pan out. Was this some thing you were looking forward to?
