In case you were wondering, yes, Disney still plans on releasing Marvel’s Black Widow in theaters. With Disney releasing Raya and the Last Dragon on Disney+ and in theaters simultaneously in March, some fans are wondering if Black Widow will be released in the same way. As of right now, the answer is no.

During a recent investor call, Disney CEO Bob Chapek was asked about what the future holds for Black Widow's release, and this was his response:

"As of now, the strategy is to continue on with the theatrical release. And we'll be watching very, very carefully.”

So, things could very well change. I just want to watch the damn movie already! Sure, I’d prefer watching on the big screen, and if the option is available to me, I’ll take it. But, if they do end up releasing it on Disney+ and theaters aren’t open yet, then of course I’m going to watch it at home.

Marvel’s action spy thriller was directed by Cate Shortland and produced by Kevin Feige. In it, Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger.

Scarlett Johansson reprises her role as Natasha/Black Widow, Florence Pugh stars as Yelena, David Harbour will play Red Guardian, and Rachel Weisz takes on the role of Melina.

The film is set to be released on May 7th, 2021. I hope movie theaters are open by then!
