Disneyland’s AVENGERS CAMPUS Was a Missed Opportunity To Do Something Epic

I took my family to Disneyland this past weekend and being such a huge Marvel fan, one of the attractions I was looking forward to experiencing most was Marvel’s Avengers Campus and the Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure ride. I was so pumped up! We were one of the first people in the park so I managed to walk right in. But, if you wait to go in or show up late it’s a three to four-hour wait to get into the Campus area.

Unfortunately, I’ve gotta say, I was extremely disappointed in Avengers Campus. If I had to wait three to four hours to get into this thing, I would have been pissed off. The area is super small, and there’s really nothing interesting about it. It’s visually boring and there’s really nothing cool to see here. It’s just a bunch of boring-looking buildings and there’s really nothing to do. After walking around for about 15 minutes we got bored.

There were so many missed opportunities with this Marvel land! The Disney Imagineers could’ve done some super cool and epic things with it! Just look at all the movies that have been made! All of the cool stuff to pull from, and they end up creating a boring campus area for the Avengers? If you want that just go to your local college campus and walk around.

I don’t know, it was just a lackluster experience for me and my kids. One of the best parts was the animatronic Spider-Man flying through the air, but you can see that by standing outside of the park. I guess if your kids really want to meet and take pictures with their favorite Marvel heroes, then going to the campus is worth it? The thing is, this should’ve been so much more awesome and exciting!

There then came the point where we were just waiting around to go on Spider-Man’s Web-Slinger ride, and there was nothing to do to kill time! So, we jumped on the Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission BREAKOUT! ride, which only had a 5-minute wait time. That right there is the best thing Avengers Campus has to offer, but as you know, it was never originally a part of the Campus, they just built the Campus around it. That ride alone is better and more interesting than what the entire Avengers Campus has to offer, and that includes Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure.

Now, Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure was a fun experience, but it’s not what I was expecting. It was basically a better-looking, faster-paced, and more technologically advanced version of the Toy Story ride and the Buzz Lightyear ride.

As you go through the 3D experience, you fling out webs using your hands to destroy an infestation of robot spiders that are causing havoc and chaos. The ride also keeps score each time you blow up a robot spider, so there’s a competitiveness to it. Of course, Spider-Man helps you along the way. It also actually offers quite a workout that might leave you in a sweat by the time you’re done.

For me, I’m just not a fan of these kinds of rides. The only time I’ll ever go on this one again is if I’m with a group of family or friends that have kids because the kids will most certainly love it! This whole Spider-Man ride was build for the kids.

I just wish the Avengers Campus offered more and told a better and more interesting story. Hopefully, as they add on to it it gets better. When you compare it to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Avengers Campus is… well, there’s really no comparison. They just did Galaxy’s Edge right.
