Disneyland’s TOMORROWLAND Is Getting a Major Reimagining With New Attractions and Experiences

Disney has announced that Tomorrowland at Disneyland Park is being reimagined, with Walt Disney Imagineering developing a new vision for one of the park’s original lands. The plans include new attractions, additional open spaces, and fresh experiences designed to get guests dreaming about the future again.

The news was announced by Thomas Mazloum, Chairman of Disney Experiences, during the closing moments of the Horizons: A Carousel of Progress Disney Experiences showcase at D23.

This is a huge deal for Disneyland. Tomorrowland has changed plenty of times since the park opened in 1955, but its central idea has always been rooted in optimism about what might be waiting around the corner. Now Disney wants to bring that spirit back while figuring out what Tomorrowland should look like for a new generation.

Disney says the transformation will honor the legacy of the original Tomorrowland and preserve the elements guests love while introducing new experiences and possibilities. Rather than abandoning the history of the land, Imagineers are looking to use it as the foundation for its next era.

Walt Disney Imagineers are already working on ideas for the project, and while Disney hasn't revealed specific rides or detailed concepts yet, the company confirmed that the reimagined Tomorrowland will feature new attractions, more open spaces, and new places where guests can think about and experience ideas surrounding the future.

The goal is to restore the optimism, innovation, and sense of possibility that inspired Walt Disney when Disneyland first opened. Walt famously described Tomorrowland as “a vista into a world of wondrous ideas…” and Disney wants that philosophy to once again play a major role in the land.

That's an exciting direction for Tomorrowland as it could Lean into bigger ideas about exploration, invention, imagination. It also opens the door for some potentially awesome new Disneyland attractions without losing the identity Walt originally gave the land.

There's still a lot Disney hasn't revealed. We don't know how extensive the changes will be, or when construction will begin. For now, Disney is making it clear that this isn't simply a cosmetic refresh. Imagineering is developing a new chapter for the entire land.

Tomorrowland has been waiting for something like this for a long time, and the prospect of seeing Disneyland give it a renewed purpose is really exciting.

If Imagineering can capture the forward-looking imagination of the original while creating something that feels fresh for today's guests, this could become one of Disneyland Resort's most interesting transformations.

I can't wait to see what they come up with.
