Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST Prequel Series Will Be Titled LITTLE TOWN

Beauty and the Beast fans have been pretty excited about the upcoming live-action spinoff series coming to Disney+. Now, thanks to composer Alan Menken, we’ve learned that the title of the series will be Little Town. You know… because of the song.

Menken revealed the titled in an interview with Variety, and when talking about his upcoming projects he referred to the Beauty and the Beast prequel as “The Little Town.” Collider later confirmed that the actual title is simply Little Town. Dropping the “the” makes it cleaner.

Luke Evans is set to reprise his role as Gaston and Josh Gad will be back as LeFou and the series will center around their early adventures. I have no idea what those adventures will entail, but the two characters were a big hit in the Disney classic and fans seemed to enjoy the versions of the characters brought to life by Evans and Gad.

The series will be a musical and Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz (Once Upon a Time) are set to co-write the show and serve as showrunners. Gad is also helping write the series. When previously talking about the project, Evans said:

“Josh and I, even when we were working on Beauty and the Beast, I recall, as two human beings, we liked each other a lot. We made each other laugh, we respected each other’s talent, and we had a great time. Even then, we were talking about what we could do and wanting to find another project. We’ve been searching, for the last several years, projects and scripts and ideas and concepts.

“In the back of our minds, we definitely had thoughts about revisiting Gaston and LeFou in a different story, obviously. So, when the idea really came to fruition and we got on board some incredible writers, and Josh, especially, had an incredible idea that, once it was born, it just flew itself. And when we pitched the idea to Disney+, they were very excited about it.”

He went on to offer the following update on the project:

“Now, we’re in fully fledged development. The second and third episodes have been written and we’ve heard some of the music by Alan Menken. We’re just so honored to have him on board, writing the music, which is extraordinary, in itself. We feel so lucky to have this talented group of people creating a story about two much loved and much hated characters, but that’s the excitement. There are a lot of questions about, where we will start? What we will tell? Who are these people? When you visit them, where will they be? So, it’s going to be a really fun experience. Me and Josh are literally vibrating with excitement to shoot it.”

With the title being Little Town, it will be interesting to see how the title ends up relating to the story that the creative team has set out to tell for these two characters.
