Disney's GARGOYLES Will Continue with a New Comic Book Series!

If you’re a fan of Disney’s Gargoyles, you’ll be happy to learn that Dynamite Entertainment has announced that they will continue the story of the animated show with a new comic book series! It’s explained that the series will pick up right where the original series left off.

Creator Greg Weisman will also return to help develop the comic, and he’s currently working on the first issue. The series will pick up after the events of Season 2. Yes, there was a third season, but that is not considered canon by Wiseman and many others, as many members of the original team weren’t involved with it.

There aren’t many details to share regarding the story, but it’s pretty cool to learn that the story will continue. I just wish it was in animated form! But, I’ll take what I can get.

Weisman previously wrote an 18-issue Gargoyles comic series for Slave Labor Graphics in 2006, which picked up the events from Gargoyles Season 2. Before that, Marvel had its own 11-issue Gargoyles run while the show was running. While that Marvel series references events from the show's first season, Weisman also doesn’t consider that canon.

There’s no information on if this Dynamite series will retcon the SLG comics run or will pick up from the ending of that.

What do you think about the story of Gargoyles continuing in a new comic series?
