Disney's GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY - MISSION: BREAKOUT! is Getting a Halloween Makeover

The Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission BREAKOUT! ride may have just opened at Disneyland's California Adventure this past May, but they are already planning to give it a big Halloween makeover!

The ride is being transformed into Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark and it will feature a new storyline that revolves around Rocket Raccoon and Groot. I haven't even been on the ride yet, but I'm familiar with the story. It finds Rocket Raccoon and the rest of the team trapped in The Collector's fortress and the riders assist with a daring escape, which involves some big drops.

Here is some information on how the experience will be changed for Halloween thanks to Disney Parks:

Your adventure picks up moments after the events of the popular Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! attraction. The Guardians have successfully escaped The Collector’s Fortress, but they have accidentally left Groot behind! Rocket enlists you to distract the creatures that have been released so he can find and rescue his little buddy. While The Collector’s ever-resourceful assistant, Apheta, may try to assure you that it is all just a momentary setback, we advise you to proceed with caution!
The Collector’s Fortress goes dark, alarms sound and all-new lighting on the exterior of the Fortress alerts guests that something inside has gone awry. As guests enter the Lobby of the Fortress, they may be startled by flashing alarms and creepy sounds – warning signs that creatures have escaped their vitrine cages and all kinds of chaos is erupting. The Collector’s ever-resourceful assistant Apheta tries to keep calm by reassuring guests that all is in order, and this is just a momentary setback.

When talking about the ride, Joe Rohde, the creative executive for Walt Disney Imagineering says:

“The Monsters After Dark story hinges on irreverence, on top of the irreverence that’s already in the attraction. It’s creepy, chaotic and very funny.”

Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark will start on September 15th and will last through October 31st. During the day the ride will be the regular Mission: BREAKOUT! ride, but after the sun goes down the ride will make the transformation into Monsters After Dark. it will even feature a new song called “Monsters After Dark,” which was created especially for this attraction by Tyler Bates, who is the composer of the Guardians of the Galaxy films.

I guess I'll be taking the fam to Disneyland during the Halloween season!
