Disney's Live-Action GARGOYLES Series Synopsis Teases a Big Change

It was recently announced that Disney would be producing a live-action series based on the hit ‘90s animated series Gargoyles. Fans have been waiting for this a long time, and it’s finally happening. But, it looks like it’s coming with a big change.

A brief plot summary for the live-action reboot series was shared by Variety, and one of the big things that was altered is that Goliath will be the only Gargoyle in the show!? The synopsis reads:

"Based on the cult classic Disney animated series, Goliath is the last of a heroic race of gargoyle warriors who once lived among mankind. Free from a centuries long curse that turned him into stone, Goliath struggles to solve the mystery of his past while watching over modern-day New York City alongside police detective Elisa Maza."

I really hope that this synopsis isn’t right because that would be ridiculous to develop a Gargoyles series without the rest of the crew, which includes Demona, Brooklyn, Lexington, Hudson, Broadway, and Bronx. If this is true, though, then the project is getting off on the wrong foot.

It’d be a shame if this is the direction that they are really looking to take the series. Knowing Disney, though, it probably is true. This latest update doesn’t inspire much confidence, but we’ll have to wait and see how this all plays out. I was just really hoping that they’d get this one right when it finally happened.

Garglyles is being produced by James Wan, and the script is being written by Gary Dauberman. It’s based on the animated series that was created by Greg Weisman.
