Disney's Live-Action LILO & STITCH Film Is Reportedly Heading to Disney+
Back in 2018, it was announced that Disney would be developing a live-action/CGI hybrid remake of its wonderful 2002 sci-fi animated film Lilo & Stitch. We haven’t heard much about this project since it was announced, but according to Disinsider, the film is set to start shooting in Hawaii this fall, and it is reportedly being produced for Disney+.
You’d think that this is the kind of Disney live-action remake the studio would want audiences to see on the big screen! But, I guess not! There is a bit of other cool news to share, and that is that the voice of Stitch from the original films and series, Chris Sanders, will return to reprise his role.
The original Lilo & Stitch movie was a great film! I especially enjoyed the Hawaiian setting for an alien invasion adventure story that revolved around the bond between a young human girl named Lilo and a dog-like alien named Stitch, who is engineered to be a force of destruction. In their journey they are hunted down by aliens and social workers. But the heart of the story lies in the bond of family.
The remake will follow the same story as the original film. The script for the remake was written by Mike Van Waes (The Crooked Man) and is being produced by Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, who also produced Disney’s Aladdin remake.
There’s still no information on who will be directing the film. What do you think about the Lilo & Stitch remake coming to Disney+? Is this a film you’d rather see on the big screen?
