Disney's Live-Action MULAN is Being Met with a Lot of Praise, Here Are Some Early Reactions

I’ve actually been pretty excited about seeing Disney’s live-action adaptation of Mulan. I haven’t had a chance to see it yet, but the studio recently screened it for a select group of media and the reactions of those who saw it have been shared on social media.

I like what I’ve seen from the footage of the film in the trailers! I like that its doing its own thing with telling this epic story of a classic legend. It doesn’t look like a shot for shot remake of the animated film, and it doesn’t include the music. This movie obviously wants to set itself apart, which I can appreciate. It also looks like a beautifully shot movie.

For those of you who have been excited about seeing this movie, you’ll be happy to know that the majority of those that have seen it, offered a good amount of praise for it for various reasons. There’s a lot of hype for this movie from the fans and it sounds like it’s going to deliver the goods!

Mulan comes from director Niki Caro (The Zookeeper’s Wife, North Country), and it looks like it’s going to be a great adventure flick!

When the Emperor of China issues a decree that one man per family must serve in the Imperial Army to defend the country from Northern invaders, Hua Mulan, the eldest daughter of an honored warrior, steps in to take the place of her ailing father. Masquerading as a man, Hua Jun, she is tested every step of the way and must harness her inner-strength and embrace her true potential. It is an epic journey that will transform her into an honored warrior and earn her the respect of a grateful nation…and a proud father.

Mulan features a fantastic cast that includes Yifei Liu as Mulan, Donnie Yen as Commander Tung. Jason Scott Lee as Böri Khan; Yoson An as Cheng Honghui; with Gong Li as Xianniang, and Jet Li as the Emperor.
