Disney's SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS Classic is Getting a Remastered 4K Release
As part of Disney’s 100th-anniversary celebration, Disney is officially releasing a special restored and remastered 4K UltraHD edition of the 1937 animated classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. This was Walt Disney’s very first ever animated feature, but don’t expect live-action Snow White star Racheal Ziegler to watch it, because judging from all of her interviews with her talking about the movie, she’s not really a fan of Snow White.
But, for those of us who do appreciate the film and its place in movie history, the remastered version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs will be available for purchase on 4K UHD and Blu-ray on October 10th. The Disney100 edition comes in a special collectible O-sleeve, while Best Buy and Walmart are offering a number of retail exclusives including a special Steelbook and a collectible pin, respectively.
The description for the film reads: “The beautiful and kindhearted princess Snow White charms every creature in the kingdom except one — her jealous stepmother, the Queen. When the Magic Mirror proclaims Snow White is the fairest one of all, she must flee into the forest, where she befriends the lovable seven dwarfs — Doc, Sneezy, Grumpy, Happy, Bashful, Sleepy and Dopey. But when the Queen tricks Snow White with an enchanted apple, only the magic of true love’s kiss can save her!”
The live-action film being made won’t feature the delightful Seven Dwarfs and it also won’t feature the magic of true love’s kiss. In the reimagining, Snow White is a warrior and leader who won’t need saving by a Prince who is “stalking her.” At least, that’s how Ziegler describes it.
I have fond memories of this movie because of how terrifying it is! The ending of this film with the Evil Queen is a complete nightmare and was scary as hell when I was a kid!
