Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit definitely looks like an interesting game and possibly one of the big “must haves” this holiday season. It takes the joy of Mario Kart and the joy of RC cars and puts them together. You create a course in your home and then actually race on it using an RC car. It’s a really cool mixed reality project from Nintendo and Velan Studios. Well, a couple of new videos have been released including an interview with Velan Studios as well as a trailer that explains how the game works. You’ll need to purchase either a Mario or Luigi set which comes with one car of your chosen racer, four gates that act like checkpoints, three arrow signs to direct drivers, and a USB charging cable.

Once in the game, racers will get to compete agains the Koopalings in eight Grand Prix cups. Each cup has three races for a total of 24 tracks to enjoy. Of course, there is also the Custom Race option that lets you design your own course beyond the physical layout. Of course, I’m still not sure how Mirror Mode will work. Is it just the images on your screen are flipped, or will the kart itself maneuver in a mirrored fashion?

Up to four racers can play at once although each racer must have their own RC racer and Nintendo Switch console. Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit will be available October 16. Are you Team Mario or Team Luigi?
