Doctor Doom Actor From the Shelved 1994 FANTASTIC FOUR Movie Wants Marvel Studios to Release It
Back in 1994, legendary B-Movie filmmaker Roger Corman produced one of Marvel's first movies... a feature film adaptation of The Fantastic Four. The movie was never officially released, but there’s a bootleg version that leaked and it has since gained a cult following.
YouTuber GodzillaMendoza recently shared a video he made that talks about the unreleased movie and he explores how the cast was tricked into making The Fantastic Four. The movie was produced by German filmmaker Bernd Eichinger and he was about to lose the film rights to property. So, to keep those right he rushed out a movie with Roger Corman.
Well, after the video was posted, Fantastic Four actor Joseph Culp, who played Victor Von Doom in the low-budget movie has called for the official release of the movie! He said:
“This is awesome. Thank you so much for making this wonderful expose on the first Fantastic Four! Your views are spot on and are deeply appreciated. On the 30th anniversary the truth must be told and the film released.”
I seriously doubt Marvel will ever release this movie in theaters, but it would be fun if they did! In addition to Culp as Doctor Doom, The Fantastic Four starred Alex Hyde-White as Mister Fantastic, Rebecca Staab as Invisible Woman, Jay Underwood as Human Torch, Carl Ciarfalio as The Thing, and Kat Green as Alicia Masters.
If you want to learn more about the movie, there’s a great 2015 documentary, Doomed!: The Untold Story of Roger Corman’s The Fantastic Four, which features interviews with Corman and the cast about their time making the superhero movie.
