DOCTOR STRANGE 2: Rachel McAdams Offers Details on Doctor Strange and Christine Palmer's Relationship
We’ve got a few bits of new plot details to share with you regarding director Sam Raimi’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. This information comes from the latest issue of D3 Magazine (via The Direct).
First off, producer Richie Palmer confirmed that Doctor Strange and Wong are “still the chief protectors of our reality… especially when it comes to any Multiversal or mystic threats.”
As for Strange’s relationship with Christine Palmer, according to Rachel McAdams, Palmer is no longer romantically involved with him. She offers an update on their relationship and where it stands in the film:
“They are not back together, unfortunately... as we saw at the end of Doctor Strange, he chose to stay in the Sanctum, meaning he can’t entertain his selfish desires. He would’ve loved to stay with Christine at the end of that movie, but he did the hard thing. He said, ‘No. I’m going to be a Super Hero and defend our reality. I have to move on. Our movie shows him dealing with the decisions he’s made. He might regret how things ended with Christine; he still carries a torch for her.”
As we’ve seen in the trailer for the film, Christine Palmer is shown getting married and it’s not to her former flame. Nope, it’s some other guy and there’s no doubt that Strange is going to be feeling hurt and regretful over this big event in her life.
But, Palmer also finds herself on a multiverse adventure with Strange as she is seen with him and Xochitl Gomez’s America Chavez in an unknown universe. It’ll be cool to see how that story arc plays out between Strange and Palmer. There are so many different ways that this story could go, with all the different universes and variant characters that could be introduced.
Benedict Cumberbatch is back as Doctor Strange, and he’s joined by Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch. Here’s the synopsis:
In Marvel Studios’ “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” the MCU unlocks the Multiverse and pushes its boundaries further than ever before. Journey into the unknown with Doctor Strange, who, with the help of mystical allies both old and new, traverses the mind-bending and dangerous alternate realities of the Multiverse to confront a mysterious new adversary.
Now that Iron Man and Captain America have left after a fierce battle in Avengers: Endgame, former genius surgeon and the strongest magician of them all, Doctor Strange, is expected to play an active role as a central figure in the Avengers. However, using his magic to manipulate time and space at will with a forbidden spell that is considered the most dangerous has opened the door to a mysterious madness called ‘the Multiverse.’ To restore a world where everything is changing, Strange seeks help from his ally Wong (Benedict Wong), the Sorcerer Supreme, and the Avengers’ most powerful Scarlet Witch, Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen). But a terrible threat looms over humanity and the entire universe that no longer can be done by their power alone. Even more surprising, the greatest threat in the universe looks exactly like Doctor Strange…
The movie also stars Benedict Wong, and Chiwetel Ejiofor, who will be back as Wong, and Karl Mordo. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be in theaters on May 6th, 2022.
