Marvel Studios is looking to hire screenwriter Jon Spaihts to write the script for Doctor Strange, which is being directed by Scott Derrickson. He's currently in negotiations with the studio. Spaihts previously worked on the script for Ridley Scott's Prometheus, but none of the other projects he has worked on have come out yet.

The site also reignites a previous rumor that Jared Leto is on the short list of actors to possibly take on the role of Strange. The other two actors on the list are Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hardy. I actually really like the idea of Leto playing Strange. He definitely has the look and the talent. I would have to say he's my number one choice at this point, and Cumberbatch is a close second. I'm not even sure why Hardy is on the list. The more I think about him in the role, the more I think he doesn't really fit the part.

Spaihts is currently writing Universal’s reboot of The Mummy, an alien invasion project called The Darkest Hour, and a remake of The Black Hole.

Marvel is moving fast on this film, and according to Deadline they are hoping to get this project into production quickly. What's funny about all this is Marvel still hasn't officially announced the movie.
