DOCTOR WHO Showrunner Russell T. Davies Reveals Marvel Studios Asked Him To Develop a British Marvel Series
Doctor Who showrunner Russell T. Davies recently revealed that before he returned to the sci-fi series, Marvel Studios approached him and asked if he was to develop a British Marvel series as its showrunner, but he wasn’t told what it was. During an interview with GamesRadar, he shared:
"I got asked to showrun a British Marvel show, but [they said] 'We can’t tell you what it is.’ To this day, I watch them and I can’t work out which show that was going to be. Obviously planning to make a British Marvel show that I haven’t seen. Has that happened?"
It’d be interesting to learn what series that might have been. Maybe it was Secret Invasion, which was primarily set in the UK and featured several British actors. Or, maybe Marvel was looking to develop a Captain Britan series at some point? At this point, we can only really speculate as to what the project was.
Regardless, Davies obviously didn’t end up taking the job and he’s now looking to develop and expand the Doctor Who universe for Disney.
The first of the Doctor Who 60th Anniversary specials, starring David Tennant and Catherine Tate, will air on the BBC on November 25.
