DOCTOR WHO Will Return This Christmas With REVOLUTION OF THE DALEKS

Look, there are very few things that I like better than an excellent season of Doctor Who, and this one has turned out to be one of my favorites. Last season was okay, it was a great way to introduce Jodie Whittaker as the Doctor as well as her friends, however, it just wasn’t as exciting as previous seasons. After watching season 12, it felt like season 11 was like part-one of a two-part story. After thinking of it that way, I have truly enjoyed Whittaker’s tenure as the Doctor.

Before we go on, I would like to say that this is going to get playfully spoilerific, so if you haven’t finished this season, please stop reading. This season has introduced some fun new enemies and some throwbacks that I do not want to spoil for you. Please stop reading and watch the season. It is worth it.

There were no punches pulled in season 12. On the first episode we were given a look at The Master’s new form (Sacha Dhawan), throughout the season we get visits from the Judoon, Cybermen and the one and only Captain Jack Harkness. The season was full of surprises, fun and heartache. The Master is the common thread throughout the season ultimately leading the cliffhanger ending in episode 10. If you had shut off your TV immediately after the episode, it would appear that all hope is lost. If you waited, you would have seen that maybe there is a ray of hope for our Doctor. We were graced with the knowledge that the Doctor will be back for this year’s Christmas special entitled Revolution of the Daleks.

Here’s what the showrunner, Chris Chibnall, had to say about it:

“We can’t leave the Doctor there! On that cliffhanger! Well, we did, but rest assured, the Doctor and her friends will be back for a one-off extended Special around Christmas and New Year. (I don’t know when they’re going to put it on yet, otherwise we’d tell you!). There will be Daleks. There will be exterminations. Thrills, laughter, tears. You know. The usual. See you at the end of the year.”

Fortunately, we won’t have to worry about a regeneration in the Christmas special, because Whittaker has already confirmed that she will be back for the new season. She said in a statement:

“Yes, I’m doing another season. That might be a massive exclusive that I’m not supposed to say, but it’s unhelpful for me to say [I don’t know] because it would be a massive lie! I absolutely adore it. At some point, these shoes are going to be handed on, but it’s not yet. I’m clinging on tight!”

Are you excited for the upcoming Christmas special, and season 13? Let us know what you think.
