DOG MAN Movie in Development at DreamWorks Animation
DreamWorks Animation has announced some great news for fans of the Dav Pilkey graphic novel series Dog Man. The studio is making a movie from the books follow the adventures of Dog Man, a lovable canine superhero, and his friends Li’l Petey, a curious kitten who embodies love, optimism, and hope, and 80-HD, a robot who expresses himself best through his art. They call themselves the “Supa Buddies.”
Pilkey saw previous success with his Captain Underpants film and series adaptation, and fans will be happy to see this project hit the screen as well. I just told my kids about the movie, and my daughter just screamed and jumped until she couldn’t anymore. Her number one favorite books of all time are the Dog Man series, and she gets each new copy on the day it comes out. She began her love of comic drawing after finding the book series, so it means a lot to her and our family.
Peter Hastings, who wrote the hilarious and still-beloved ‘90s series Animaniacs and Pinky and the Brain, is on board to direct the feature. There’s no doubt this is going to bring in a solid fanbase, and I am really excited to see what they do with the characters. Are you a fan of Pilkey’s Dog Man?
