DOGMA Gets a Rerelease and a Tour From Kevin Smith and There's a Trailer

Fans of Kevin Smith need to rejoice that Dogma is coming back to theaters. Praise Iconic Events for being brave enough for acquiring the rights to the film and rereleasing it for it’s 25th anniversary.

All jokes aside, Dogma is one of my favorite films from Kevin Smith. Unfortunately, due to it’s controversial plot, it has all been eliminated from the public eye.

It follows two fallen angels trying to get back into heaven. I know that doesn’t sound so bad, but remember that it was made by Kevin Smith so it shines a lot of light on the dark underbelly of religion.

Dogma has never streamed anywhere and limited production of physical copies of the film has made it a cult classic. The prospect of seeing it again in theaters makes me rejoice in a visceral way.

The film will be released in June, but ahead of the release Smith himself will do a 25 location tour consisting of the film and a Q&A. The tour starts on April 20th (420 and Easter) at the Grove in Los Angeles. Variety got a statement from Smith himself about the rerelease of the film.

Bless me, Father — for I have cinema! God bless iconic events for granting my fourth (and perhaps best) film a religious re-release! Praise the Lord and pass the popcorn for the second coming of ‘Dogma’!” said Smith in a statement.

He added, “Blessed are they who come in the name of the tour. See you in Los Angeles, San Diego, Phoenix, Seattle, Minneapolis, Chicago, Kansas City, Dallas, Houston, Boston, NYC, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Tampa and Orlando, before wrapping up at my movie theater, Smodcastle Cinemas in Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey. But if you miss the tour, thank Heavens you can see the flick at a near you on June 5th!”

I love the movie and I am going to be in attendance for one Kevin Smith’s appreances. If you have seen the movie, what is your favorite part? If you haven’t, please attend the rerelease and get this great movie out to the masses. Will you be there? Let us know what you think.
