Dolly Parton Says That If a Biopic Is Made About Her, She Wants Kristin Chenoweth to Play Her
Dolly Parton has made quite a legacy for herself. She is a Grammy and Country Music Award recipient who began performing at the Grand Ole Opry as a young teen, as well as an accomplished actress who has starred in classic films like Steel Magnolias and 9 to 5, for which she received her first of two Oscar nominations for Best Original Song. She is an activist who has kept a wide fanbase by truly promoting love and equality for all. She shares her money with people in need, runs a theme park, keeps pumping out music, and recently wrote a book with James Patterson titled Run, Rose, Run, that is being adapted into a film in which she will star.
Parton is a busy lady, and her life is something to aspire to. No one has attempted yet to make a biopic about this incredible woman, but Parton recently revealed who she would like to have play her if that day ever comes.
In a recent appearance on Mr. Nashville Talks, Parton revealed that Broadway/film/TV star Kristin Chenoweth would be her top choice to play her in any sort of biopic project. She said:
"We were talking about doing my Broadway musical, and we were really, really far out ahead of that. Then COVID hit and that changed my mind about a whole lot of things... I do intend someday to be on Broadway, but I'm thinking now that I might do my life story as a feature. Maybe possibly even a musical feature, so we're in talks about that. I love Kristin Chenoweth. She's just absolutely fantastic. We'd probably have to have a little Dolly, a middle Dolly and then the older one."
Chenoweth would be an excellent choice for this role. She is an Emmy-winner for her role in the great series Pushing Daisies, she was the original Galinda in Broadway’s Wicked, she has been in numerous movies and TV shows, and most recently played a hilarious role in the Apple TV+ series, Schmigadoon!. She’s an incredible singer and charismatic actress that would be a great fit for Dolly, especially since Parton herself has approved it. I hope this idea moves forward and we do get to see Chenoweth fill the tiny, mighty shoes of the iconic Dolly Parton.
