Dolph Lundgren Takes on a Villainous Role in James Wan's AQUAMAN!
Well, director James Wan's Aquaman just got a helluva lot more interesting! Legendary action star Dolph Lundgren has been cast alongside Jason Mamoa in the film!
According to THR, Lundgren will take on the role of King Nereus of the aquatic kingdom of Xebel, "who claims Mera as his own and wants to kill Aquaman." I never expected to see Lundgren pop up in any of these modern day superhero films that are being made these days, but it looks like Wan found the perfect role for him and it gonna be a lot of fun to see him in this role!
As an Atlantean from Xebel, Nereus is a skilled warrior and has a number of superhuman powers that follow that include super strength, durability, Hydrokinesis, which is the ability to control water.
Lundgren will also join Amber Heard as Mera, Aquaman's royal love interest; Nicole Kidman as Aquaman’s mother; Willem Dafoe as Aquaman's advisor, scientist Dr. Vulko; Patrick Wilson as Orm, Aquaman’s villainous half-brother; Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta; and Temuera Morrison is playing Aquaman’s father.
Lundgren has made a ton of films in his career but two of my favorite are Rocky IV and He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. He also played Frank Castle in 1989's The Punisher.
