Donald Glover Confirms His Involvement with the Long-Awaited COMMUNITY Movie
When it was first announced that NBCUniversal’s Peacock was going to be producing the long-awaited Community movie, everyone in the original cast was confirmed to return except for Donald Glover. His involvement with the project has been up in the air.
Dan Harmon is developing Community: The Movie and it was initially announced that Joel McHale, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash and Ken Jeong would be back. Harmon later said that he believed Glover would also return saying:
“I think that Donald is coming, based on word of mouth, but it’s just the deal isn’t official or wasn’t official. It would be difficult to really commit to doing this thing without Donald. So I believe he is coming back. I think if there’s names missing from a list, it’s because the names that are on the list, their deals are agreed upon enough that it’s OK to say they are on the list, and anybody that’s not on a list, it’s just not the case yet. So there is nothing official about anybody being out.”
Well, it looks like Harmon was putting out all the good vibes because, during a recent interview with GQ, Glover seemed to have confirmed his involvement in the movie:
"We're supposed to be shooting it soon. Haven't seen the script, don't know ... and in true Dan [Harmon] fashion, we'll probably get it on the first day. But yeah, it's supposed to be happening."
The giveaway here is when he said, “We’re supposed to be shooting,” which means he’s including himself in the process. So that’s wonderful news! A community movie just wouldn’t be the same without Glover. It was a sad day when he left the show, but it will be so great to see him reunite with the rest of the cast for the film! Hopefully, Yvette Nicole Brown is able to join in on the fun as well! She’s the only now that we don’t know about.
Harmon and Andrew Guest will write and executive produce the movie, and as of right now, there’s no word on who will direct it. But Harmon previously shared, “There’s a director that directed some of my favorite episodes of Community that it would be great to see be able to do the movie. And that’s not even mentioning the Russo Brothers, who I would also love to see come back. But I’m just making the assumption that they’re too busy.”
Are you excited to hear that Glover will be coming back to reprise his role as Troy!?
