Donald Glover Gives Promising Update On COMMUNITY Movie - "We're Working On It Right Now"

Donald Glover is busy promoting The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which opened this week, in which he voices the fan favorite character Yoshi. But he’s not too busy to drop a little update for fans of the series Community.

The “six seasons and a movie” plan is still in place, and Glover is letting fans know that while the film hasn’t quite yet entered production, we are on the right track and closer than ever.

The actor told Entertainment Tonight that “something is gonna happen soon,” explaining, “We’re working on it right now. I know everybody’s been saying that for forever, but I swear to you, I’m not lying about this. I really think that something is gonna happen soon.”

Glover noted that he and his former co-stars “were just on the text chain talking about it,” adding of the group chat, “It’s pretty lovey dovey, but when you’re on the other side of the world, you will wake up to 83 messages.”

Creator Dan Harmon returned to write the script, and he is joined by returning cast members Joel McHale, Alison Brie, Danny Pudi, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash and Ken Jeong. Yvette Nicole Brown has also confirmed her return, noting in October 2024 that the script was “being reworked” to include her character Shirley.

McHale previously took responsibility for the movie’s delay, telling GQ that fans “can fully blame my schedule” following speculation that Glover’s busy schedule was holding up production.
