Donald Glover's Animated DEADPOOL Series at FX is No Longer Happening

I was incredibly excited about the animated Deadpool series that Donald Glover and his brother Stephen were developing for Marvel Television and FX. Unfortunately, all parties have parted ways and the series is no longer happening with Glover. As of right now, we don't even know if the series is happening at all anymore.

FX confirmed all this news with Variety and added that FX and Marvel TV will still be working together on Noah Hawley's X-Men series Legion. As far as details on why FX and Marvel parted ways with Glover, they just said it was because of "creative differences."

I hate that term. I wish they'd just tell us why exactly things didn't work out. But, I'm sure all that info will eventually come out when Glover and members of his creative team end up doing interviews in the future. Here's the statement that was released by FX:

“Due to creative differences, FX, Donald Glover, Stephen Glover and Marvel Television have agreed to part ways on Marvel’s ‘Deadpool’ animated series, FX will no longer be involved with the project. FX and Marvel have an ongoing relationship through our partnership on ‘Legion,’ which will continue.”

This is a bummer. I was really looking forward to this. The series was going to consist of ten episodes and the animation was going to be done by Floyd County, which is the animation house behind Archer.

The report goes on to say that even though the show was supposed to premiere this year, "the series was not in active production nor is it believed that any scripts had been delivered."

Maybe eventually Marvel TV will resurrect the Deadpool project with a new writing team. But as of right now, there's no information on if or when the series will go back into development.

How do you feel about Donald Glover's Deadpool animated series being canceled? Who would you like to see come on board and take over?
