Donald Trump Appoints Sylvester Stallone, Mel Gibson, and Jon Voight as "Special Ambassadors" to Revive Hollywood

President-elect Donald Trump has announced his plan to rejuvenate Hollywood by naming Sylvester Stallone, Mel Gibson, and Jon Voight as "Special Ambassadors" tasked with restoring the entertainment industry's lost business.

In a statement shared on Truth Social, Trump described Hollywood as a “troubled place” that has suffered significant economic setbacks in recent years.

He said: “It is my honor to announce Jon Voight, Mel Gibson, and Sylvester Stallone, to be Special Ambassadors to a great but very troubled place, Hollywood, California.

“They will serve as Special Envoys to me for the purpose of bringing Hollywood, which has lost much business over the last four years to foreign countries, BACK—BIGGER, BETTER, AND STRONGER THAN EVER BEFORE!

“These three very talented people will be my eyes and ears, and I will get done what they suggest. It will again be, like The United States of America itself, The Golden Age of Hollywood!”

Each of Trump’s chosen ambassadors has a storied history in Hollywood, and Mel Gibson may be considered the most controversial choice, as he was once sidelined in the industry following antisemitic remarks, made a return with the critically acclaimed 2016 war film Hacksaw Ridge.

He continues to work as a filmmaker and actor, with his latest project, the action thriller Flight Risk starring Mark Wahlberg, set for release on January 24. He’s also working on his Passion of the Christ sequel.

Sylvester Stallone remains a pop culture icon, known for his classic franchises Rocky and Rambo. He’s currently starring in Paramount+’s Tulsa King and has co-written and produced the upcoming action film Working Man.

Jon Voight, who is an outspoken Trump supporter, also brings extensive experience to the job. His recent projects include Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis and the biopic Reagan, in which Dennis Quaid portrays the 40th U.S. president.

While the specifics of the trio’s roles remain unclear, and it remains to be seen if these three high-profile figures will resonate with Hollywood’s broader, diverse ecosystem. Regardless, Trump thinks these appointees will be able to deliver a cultural and economic revival in Hollywood.

As Hollywood looks ahead, the impact of Trump’s choices is sure to spark debates about the intersection of politics, culture, and commerce in the entertainment industry.
