DORA AND THE LOST CITY OF GOLD Surprises Everyone with Danny Trejo Voicing Boots the Monkey

I’m still not sure what I think about this whole Dora the Explorer movie, but I guess I’ll have a better idea after the trailer drops tomorrow. In the meantime, I’m going to sit here being completely shocked at the casting for Dora’s monkey friend Boots.

Danny Trejo has revealed that his role will be voicing the monkey, and I am not sure how I feel about it. It just seems weird in my head to see Boots but hearing Trejo. This could all change tomorrow though after the trailer drops, and I assume we’ll actually hear and see Boots talk. Maybe it works better in real life than in my head.

Having spent most of her life exploring the jungle with her parents, nothing could prepare Dora (Isabela Moner) for her most dangerous adventure ever – High School. Always the explorer, Dora quickly finds herself leading Boots (her best friend, a monkey), Diego (Jeffrey Wahlberg), a mysterious jungle inhabitant (Eugenio Derbez), and a rag tag group of teens on a live-action adventure to save her parents (Eva Longoria, Michael Peña) and solve the impossible mystery behind a lost city of gold.

Dora and the Lost City of Gold is set to release August 2, 2019, and it was directed by James Bobin.
