Dr. Loomis Will Reportedly Return in HALLOWEEN KILLS

Before Los Angeles went on lockdown, there was a test screening held for Blumhouse and director David Gordon Green’s Halloween Kills. Since then, rumors have been circulating online about what that film will entail. One of those rumors has involved the return of the iconic character Dr. Loomis. Now Dark Universe is reporting that Loomis “will indeed be one of the surprise returns in the film’s 1978 flashback sequence with Michael Myers.”

If this is true, it will be interesting and cool to see how they end up pulling this off seeing as the actor who played him, Donald Pleasence, is no longer with us. But, I’m sure they’ve come up with a clever way to pull it off. The first film included him in the last Halloween movie that was released with his voice recording.

As you know, the film is bringing back a few characters from the original film, so it makes sense that they would want to bring back Dr. Loomis in some way as well.

Jamie Lee Curtis is back in the role of a traumatized Laurie Strode, and she is once again joined by Judy Greer and Andi Matichak who reprise their roles in the sequels. Michael Myers actors Nick Castle and James Jude Courtney will also come back to their shared role. The film also includes Kyle Richards returning as Lindsey Wallace; Anthony Michael as Tommy Doyle, and Nancy Stephens who will reprise her role as Nurse Marion.

When previously talking about the Curtis explained that these next two sequels are going to “unpack the first movie” and will examine the “cultural phenomenon of violence” as well as trauma.

“What I love that David and [co-writer] Danny [McBride] and company did is they connected the dots for forty years, now they’re going back to really unpack the first movie, bringing back all those characters whose lives were affected by what happened in 1978.

“The ass-kicking part is the fan-favorite part, but from my standpoint, I didn’t go into it because I got to kick Michael’s bottom. I was particularly drawn because it was a movie about trauma. We have horror movies that are horrific and we have these horrific events take place, but we leave the movie theater and then we complain that the dishwasher doesn’t work. The trauma that occurs for these character for forty years, I felt was very important that David understood that and was really giving Laurie great honor to acknowledge that her experience of her life was very challenged.”

She then added:

“And then kick his ass. And then you realize that it, in fact, was all like a spider’s web, but in order to go to the spider’s web, you also had to see the fragile person. And I was grateful that that was the angel. I think that if from the opening section I was kicking butt, it wouldn’t have had the emotional reaction that people actually had.”

Universal and Blumhouse will release Halloween Kills on October 16, 2020, and Halloween Ends follows one year later on October 15, 2021.
