DRAGON BALL: A VISUAL HISTORY is Really Cool But I Wish it Was More Up to Date

If you’re a kid who grew up on anime in the 90s, you’re probably into Dragon Ball, or at the very least, Dragon Ball Z. Well, VIZ Media has released Dragon Ball: A Visual History by Akira Toriyama, the original creator of Dragon Ball. VIZ was kind enough to send me a copy and it is a lot of fun for any fan of the franchise.

A lot of the art for this book happens to be cover art and posters for Shonen Jump Weekly and other manga releases, so don’t expect a lot of new art, but it doesn’t make it less cool. In addition, there are interviews with Toriyama at the back.

The one thing that bothers me about the book is that it ends in 2013. This means that we don’t get any artwork from Dragon Ball Super. The final pieces that we get focus on Dragon Ball Z: Battle of the Gods. This is really cool, but I would’ve really liked some DBS work.

If you love Dragon Ball, you’ll want to check out the Visual History available from your favorite retailers like Amazon.
