DRAGON RIDER Casts Patrick Stewart, Felicity Jones, and More
Tomer Eshed has been working with Gnomeo & Juliet writer Johnny Smith to create a movie based on the novel Dragon Rider by Cornelia Funke. The movie will be put out by Timeless Films and Constantin Film. Here’s what the book is about in case you’ve never read it.
“Dragon Rider follows the exploits of a silver dragon named Firedrake, the Brownie Sorrel, and Ben, a human boy, in their search for the mythical part of the Himalayas mountain range called the Rim of Heaven to find a safe place for Firedrake’s kin to live when the dragon finds out that humans intend to flood the valley where he and his fellow dragons live.”
I think the best part is who they’ve announced for the cast so far. Felicity Jones, Patrick Stewart, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Freddie Highmore, Meera Syal, Sanjeev Bhaskar, and Nonso Anozie. Firedrake will be played by Brodie-Sangster, Jones will play Sorrel, Ben will be Highmore, and the villain Nettlebrand will be voiced by the incredible Stewart. Looks like I have a new book to add to my list.
Dragon Rider is currently planned to be released Fall 2019.
