Drew Goddard to Write and Possibly Direct an Adaptation of the Graphic Novel SABRINA

New Regency is looking to produce a film adaptation of Nick Drnaso’s Drawn & Quarterly graphic novel Sabrina, which was published in 2018. They’ve also hired Drew Goddard to write the film and possibly direct it.

Goddard most recently wrote and directed Bad Times at the El Royale, wrote The Martian, and directed the cult classic Cabin in the Woods. Sabrina seems like it is a good project for the filmmaker to take on.

The story centers on “a man who, after his girlfriend Sabrina goes missing, moves in with his old friend — an Air Force surveillance expert agent who is dealing with a failed marriage. After a grisly videotape is anonymously sent to news outlets, Sabrina’s disappearance goes viral. As the 24-hour news cycle and social media take hold of the story, the two men are targeted by vitriolic conspiracy theorists that threaten their sense of the truth and their faith in each other.”

I could see Goddard bringing this story to life in his signature style. He was supposed to write and direct X-Force for Fox, but I have no idea if that’s still happening with Disney and Marvel Studios taking control of the franchise. As of right now the project is in limbo, so it makes sense for him to jump on board another project.
