Drew Struzan’s Legendary STAR WARS Posters Return in Cool Limited Edition Release

Every Star Wars fan has a generation-defining image of the saga burned into their memory. For some, it’s the epic, painterly work of Greg Hildebrandt and Roger Kastel that defined the late ’70s and ’80s.

But for those who grew up in the ’90s and beyond, there’s one artist who captured the Force like no other… Drew Struzan. His unforgettable Star Wars Special Edition posters for A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi became instant icons. And now, they’re back.

Bottleneck Gallery and Acme Archives have teamed up with Struzan to bring fans a brand-new, limited-edition release of his celebrated Star Wars trilogy artwork.

These are premium, screen-printed versions of Struzan’s original pieces—three perfect posters that, when displayed together, form one breathtaking vision of the galaxy far, far away.

The prints drop at noon ET on October 8 exclusively at BottleneckGallery.com, and collectors are already preparing for hyperspace-level demand.

The artwork itself is unchanged, but the title treatments have been updated. Instead of the gold “Special Edition” logos from 1997, these feature more traditional title designs. There’s a reason behind the change.

Lucasfilm is notoriously particular when it comes to licensing official artwork. For instance, you can’t release a poster that simply says Raiders of the Lost Ark anymore, it must read Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark.

And the same logic seems to apply here. Lucasfilm no longer really markets the original trilogy as “Special Editions,” treating them instead as the standard versions of the films. That likely explains the updated logos.

Another detail worth noting is the original Special Edition posters had credit blocks beneath the gold titles, and removing them would leave awkward blank space. The new logos fill that area nicely, keeping Struzan’s composition balanced.

For collectors who prefer a cleaner look, there will also be non-logo variants available.

No matter which version you choose, these are some great Star Wars posters that offer that pure Struzan magic. If you want to own a piece of Star Wars history, The prints go on sale at noon ET, October 8, at BottleneckGallery.com.

First is the main edition. Three 24×36 inch screen prints in an edition of 750. These cost $85 each or $245 for the set.

Then there are the art prints, variant editions without the titles. These are also 24×36 inch screenprints, but in an edition of 350. They cost $100 each or $290 for the set.

Finally, there’s a “brushstroke variant edition” that has a little bit of a rough-around-the-edges, painting look. These are 24×36 inch giclées and cost $260 for the set.
