Dropout is an Unsung Winner of Streaming Services

If you like comedic programming and like or don’t mind adult content, I cannot recommend Dropout enough. There is so much good content on the service, there’s a wide variety for you to choose from. My personal favorites are Dimension 20, Game Changer, Make Some Noise, and Um, Actually, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Honestly, Game Changer is so unique in and of itself that it’s probably worth subscribing to just for that.

Before I go any further, I do want to mention that Dropout is not paying me to write this article. They have given me a free subscription to the service for the last several months to a year, but I was bugging my wife for months before that about dropping Netflix and getting Dropout. Why did I want Dropout so bad?

Well, they’ve got really good content. As I’ve already mentioned, there’s a wide variety of programming. Game Changer is a game show that’s almost never the same game twice and it gets crazier every season. Heck, one of the latest episodes saw the host Sam Reich trick the contestants Brennan Lee Mulligan, Lou Wilson, and Siobhan Thompson in an escape room that was the show’s green room! It was mind blowing and I loved it. There’s also how they took The Bachelor and actually made it a fun experience to watch for me. It was only two episodes, there was no fighting between contestants, and it definitely had that CollegeHumor flair. I also have to just share a clip from a ridiculous Shakespeare episode.

Dimension 20 is possibly my favorite actual play TTRPG series. The seasons are never very long, the characters are always such fun, and the stories are never what you think they’ll be. If you want to start, there are lots of seasons that can cater to a wide variety of interests. My favorite season is Escape from the Bloodkeep which is a parody of The Lord of the Rings from the villains’ point of view although Coffin Run, a Dracula story, was also fantastic.

Um, Actually is a nerd trivia show where the goal is to correct someone who makes incorrect statements about things we love. We’ve all been there. Someone says something wrong about a show, movie, game, etc. and it physically hurts us so we have to say something. This show is perfect for that. Even when I don’t know everything they’re talking about, I find myself having a good time.

Make Some Noise is a spin-off of Game Changer where contestants are given prompts to make certain sounds or impressions and it’s so funny. One of my favorite ones is an impression of Meryl Streep selling vacuum cleaners by Mary Elizabeth Kelly.

There are tons of other shows to enjoy though. There’s Dirty Laundry where you learn about dirty secrets the cast of various Dropout shows and their friends have as well as how to make some drinks. There’s Dorkly content if you like his channel. Play It By Ear is a musical improv show. Breaking News sees various cast members and friends try to share ridiculous “news stories” without smiling or laughing (yet another favorite of mine). And there’s so much more to enjoy on the app.

I highly recommend Dropout. It only costs $5.99 per month or $47.99 per year which is a steal! If you’re fed up with other services not having enough good content, consider subscribing to Dropout. They regularly update their content and when they’re releasing a season, episodes release on a weekly basis, something I appreciate..
