Duncan Jones Confirms He's Directing a 2000 AD ROGUE TROOPER Movie

Director Duncan Jones (Moon, Mute) has been teasing a new comic book film project that he is going to direct. In a recent Tweet he posted a video where he pretty much confirmes that project will be an adaptation of 2000 AD's Rogue Trooper.

Jones has been saying for awhile that he has been interested in making a Rogue Trooper movie and now it looks like it's all coming together for him! I'm a big fan of Jones' work so I'm pretty excited for him. Jones previously said:

"But I kinda feel like where my heart lies, if I were gonna go in the comic book direction, it would be in the British stuff just because I am British. So 2000 AD where Judge Dredd came from, has an amazing cast of characters. And I think if I were ever gonna do a comic book character, it would probably be one of those.
"Dredd was great, but there are like Slaine, and Rogue Trooper, and all of these amazing British characters that are over here, people don’t know about. So if I can find a way to get the budget to do one of those, which is difficult because they’re not known about… Those would be amazing movies, it’s just because they’re not known about. How do we make that work? But we’ll see. I would rather focus on trying to do a 2000 AD character."

For those of you not familiar with the Rogue Trooper comic it was created by Gerry Finley-Day and Dave Gibbons in 1981.

It follows the adventures of Rogue, a "Genetic Infantryman", a genetically created, blue-skinned, manufactured super soldier and his three comrades' search for the Traitor General. His comrades are in the form of biochips – onto which a G.I.'s entire personality is downloaded at the time of death for later retrieval – and are named Gunnar (mounted on Rogue's rifle), Bagman (on his backpack) and Helm (on his helmet). He is genetically engineered to be immune to almost all known toxins, can submerge in strong acid unaffected, and is able to withstand a vacuum in his bare skin.

I'm pretty pumped up for this and I think that Jones is going to end up giving us an awesome feature film adaptation!
