DUNCANVILLE Episode 2 Proves the Show Can Be Hilarious
Duncanville has aired its second episode and I will say, I think it’s getting better. The first episode had me a little nervous, but this second episode was really great. If you don’t want spoilers, this is your warning. You can watch new episodes of Duncanville Sunday nights on Fox.
This episode was so much better than the last one. I felt like there was some decent focus on characters other than Duncan and it helps a lot. There’s still focus on Duncan, but not everything is about him. We have a story focused on his parents which is hilarious and made me and my wife feel attacked at certain points and then we had a story revolving around Duncan and his sister Kimberly. It was really funny to see Jack (Duncan’s dad) being a hoarder of rock ‘n roll paraphernalia. Who hasn’t been a hoarder at some point or known a hoarder. They handle it in a hilarious manner in my opinion. I absolutely love the solution of building a fake garage front to hide the clutter.
The other story is centered on Duncan and Kimberly where Duncan’s friends replace him with her for a video game tournament. This is pretty fun because there is the story of your friends betraying you for a sibling, the classic sibling rivalry, and then there’s the story of a brother and a sister when he goes to embarrass her with her shrine to her and Wolf. It’s a very interesting arc that I’m sure most people with siblings can relate to at some point. It’s handled very well and was pretty funny (though I thought the parent story was funnier).
This episode showed me that Duncanville really has the ability to be hilarious. I’m interested to see how they play with the character dynamics in future episodes. I wonder what my favorite groupings will be.
