DUNGEONS & DRAGONS Fans Want ORIENTAL ADVENTURES Taken Down

Oriental Adventures was a supplement released for Advanced Dungeons & Dragons back in the ‘80s. Thanks to the internet, fans are able to still purchase it, and Wizards of the Coast is able to profit from it. Normally, this isn’t news or a problem. However, Daniel Kwan of the podcast Asians Represent has recently talked about how this supplement is offensive to Asian cultures and should be removed from DMs Guild. The supplement appears to be full of stereotypical racist content and homogenizes Asian cultures into some kind of monolith to represent all the different cultures in the vast continent.

In addition to wanting the supplement taken down, Kwan and other fans are wanting any future supplements to include writers from any culture being represented and sensitivity readers included as the minimum effort.

Of course, with Wizards of the Coast recently releasing a statement addressing problematic racial aspects of their games including Dungeons & Dragons, many fans are wondering why Oriental Adventures is still available. If you’re wanting to know Kwan’s grievances, you can check out a 26-hour playlist of videos where he goes through the supplement addressing a lot of the problems.
