DUNGEONS & DRAGONS - February's Unearthed Arcana Will be the Artificer Class Again

Every month, Wizards of the Coast releases something new for players of Dungeons & Dragons under Unearthed Arcana. Unearthed Arcana is essentially a way for new classes, races, sub-classes, etc. to be playtested by the D&D community. The best part? It’s free. That’s right, anyone can use it in unofficial play. So, while January didn’t get an Unearthed Arcana, fans are excited at what February has in store as it is the second time the Artificer class will be available. Artificers were first featured back in 2017 and have since gone dormant, but with this second round of playtesting, maybe it’ll be the first official new class to add on to the 12 core classes from the Player’s Handbook.

If you don’t know what an artificer is, they’re a class that specializes in making magical items. Here’s a quick description from last time they were available in Unearthed Arcana:

Makers of magic-infused objects, artificers are defined by their inventive nature. Like wizards, they see magic as a complex system waiting to be decoded and controlled through a combination of thorough study and investigation. Artificers, though, focus on creating marvelous new magical objects. Spells are often too ephemeral and temporary for their tastes. Instead, they seek to craft durable, useful items.

I’m really excited to see how the Artificer has changed and I’m hopeful that it will pave the way for more new official classes.
