Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt's Superpower Comedy BALL AND CHAIN Lands at Netflix
Mega movie superstar Dwayne Johnson has got another film project in the works at Netflix. His recently announced film project, Ball and Chain, which also stars Emily Blunt has landed at the streaming service.
Ball and Chain is a superhero film in which Johnson and Blunt play a “bickering couple who receive superpowers that only work if they can learn to put aside their differences and work together.”
The film is based on a four-part comic book that was published in 1999, and this is the description of the comic:
Edgar and Mallory Bulson have decided to throw in the towel. That was the plan anyway, until a mysterious meteor bathed the battling couple in extraterrestrial energies that gave them super-powers. Will their newfound abilities be enough to make their marriage work?
Johnson had this to say in a statement:
“One of our main initiatives at Seven Bucks is to continue to find the best platforms to tell stories that entertain and inspire on a global scale. Netflix is the perfect partner to deliver this epic superhero/romantic comedy experience alongside us, and we’re excited to be back in business with the Netflix team. I’m also excited to not only reunite with dear friend Emily Blunt in front of the camera, but to also collaborate as producing partners as we bring Emily V. Gordon’s script to life.”
Johnson has a few other projects in development at Netflix that include Red Notice with Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot as well as John Henry and The Statesmen. Scott Stuber, Head of Netflix Film added:
“Dwayne and Emily have a chemistry together that is unmatched in our business right now. They are the perfect duo to bring Emily V. Gordon’s electric superhero story to life, and take the world of Ball and Chain to new heights. We couldn’t be happier to be in business with Emily Blunt, as well as continue our relationship with Dwayne, Seven Bucks and Kevin Misher.”
Netflix has going to be extremely happy to be in business with Dwayne Johnson because he has such a massive fan base!
