Dwayne Johnson For President? He Says it's a "Real Possibility"
I don't really post a lot of political stuff here on the site, but it looks like Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson might actually end up running for President of the United States and I had to talk about it!
During an interview with GQ, he said that putting his career on hold to run the country is a "real possibility." Trump and Clinton both approached him about wanting his endorsement when they were running, but Johnson declined. In regards to that, he said:
“I feel like I’m in a position now where my word carries a lot of weight and influence, which of course is why they want the endorsement. But I also have a tremendous amount of respect for the process and felt like if I did share my political views publicly, a few things would happen — and these are all conversations I have with myself, in the gym at four o’clock in the morning — I felt like it would either (a) make people unhappy with the thought of whatever my political view was. And, also, it might sway an opinion, which I didn’t want to do.”
He goes on to talk about what he would like to see in the country saying:
“I’d like to see a better leadership. I’d like to see a greater leadership. When there’s a disagreement, and you have a large group of people that you’re in a disagreement with — for example, the media — I feel like it informs me that I could be better.”
Honestly, it's not hard to imagine Johnson as President of the United States, and if he ran, he might have the power and popularity to actually win. I have no idea if he would make a good President or not and I'm not even sure where he stands on certain policies. One thing I do know is that he an advocate for veterans and mental health issues. He also comes off as a very humble and nice guy.
There's also been a lot of talk regarding Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg possibly running for President. It would certainly be interesting to see Zuckerberg and Johnson running against each other during the next presidential race!
